On the numerical solution of generalized Sylvester matrix equations
The global FOM and GMRES algorithms are among the effective methods to solve Sylvester matrix equations. In this paper, we study these algorithms in the case that the coefficient matrices are real symmetric (real symmetric positive definite) and extract two CG-type algorithms for solving generalized Sylvester matrix equations. The proposed methods are iterative projection metho...
متن کاملNumerical solution of Fredholm integral-differential equations on unbounded domain
In this study, a new and efficient approach is presented for numerical solution of Fredholm integro-differential equations (FIDEs) of the second kind on unbounded domain with degenerate kernel based on operational matrices with respect to generalized Laguerre polynomials(GLPs). Properties of these polynomials and operational matrices of integration, differentiation are introduced and are ultili...
متن کاملThe Numerical Solution of Weakly Singular Volterra Integral Equations By Collocation on Graded Meshes
Since the solution of a second-kind Volterra integral equation with weakly singular kernel has, in general, unbounded derivatives at the left endpoint of the interval of integration, its numerical solution by polynomial spline collocation on uniform meshes will lead to poor convergence rates. In this paper we investigate the convergence rates with respect to graded meshes, and we discuss the pr...
متن کاملGuiding-center simulations on curvilinear meshes
The purpose of this work is to design simulation tools for magnetised plasmas in the ITER project framework. The specific issue we consider is the simulation of turbulent transport in the core of a Tokamak plasma, for which a 5D gyrokinetic model is generally used, where the fast gyromotion of the particles in the strong magnetic field is averaged in order to remove the associated fast time-sca...
متن کاملRobust Untangling of Curvilinear Meshes
This paper describes a technique that enables to generate high order / curvilinear meshes in a robust fashion. Accurate estimates of jacobian bounds are used for deriving an unconstrained optimization procedure. Both 2D and 3D valid high order meshes are presented that demonstrate the efficiency of the new technique.
